A very fine quality lantern clock of the 1670s by William Rose of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, made with balance wheel escapement converted very early in its history to anchor escapement, having beautiful bottle-shaped arbors, and a hidden signature of John Sweby of London, who supplied it to Rose. Only one other lantern cock is recorded by William Rose, and that much altered. Only one other is recorded by John Sweby. Unrestored but in full working order. SOLD.
