A handsome lantern clock with glazed wings and original verge escapement and short pendulum between the trains, made in the 1690s by John Wright of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. One of this name was married at Tuxford, Nottinghamshire, on the 6th June 1675 to Mary Curtle and a John and Mary Wright had a son, John, baptised at Mansfield in 1677 or 1678 (records vary). A John Wright was married there in December 1678 or 1679 to Rebecca Blankley (or Rebecca Clauk - writing indiscernible). He was a Quaker, who is believed to have been buried there on the 26th October 1707. This is one of only three lantern clocks so far been recorded by him.
